We founded Peebles Witch Trials Walking Tours through a shared passion for local history & a wish to give a voice to the 61 individuals vehementlie accused right here in Peebles. There is no local folk lore about what happened here, this is a hidden history, recently brought into the light. It is a remarkable chapter of Scottish history that deserves to be remembered accurately. We set up these guided walking tours to bring both local residents & visitors closer to the actual places, surviving trial records & landscapes of the scottish borders. We start & end the tour beside the memorial plaque & the mighty River Tweed.
